Predictions for 2012 the Year of the Dragon - by Edgar Lok Tin Yung - Dec 2011

Most of the Chinese Astrology Consultants or Feng Shui Masters nowadays just using the Start of Spring (立春日) day and time plus the year and month in Lunar Calendar to construct a Four Pillars chart to predict events for the coming year.

In my opinion, using the Start of Spring day and time to predict for the coming year is wrong.
The Four Pillar chart is related to personal luck. Yearly prediction should use the Jia zi (甲子) cycles (Sexagenary cycle) and look at three different levels. They are

1. The Heaven Luck,
2. The Earth Luck and
3. The Man Luck.

2012 The Heaven Luck

First of all, don’t worry; 2012 year of the Dragon, It is not the doomsday or the end of world.
However, there will be more natural disasters in relation to earthquakes, and water incidents
such as flooding, tsunamis, sea level changes.

According to calculation, the year of the Snake 2013 will be even worse in term of natural
disasters. This article is predicting 2012 year of the dragon. So now let’s just concentrate on the year of the Water Dragon (Ren Chen 壬辰).

For animal sings, always remember that the cut-off point is NOT on the Chinese New Year’s day.
It is on the “Start of Spring” (立春) and it normally falls on the 4th or 5th February each year.
The Chinese New Year for the year of the Dragon is on the 23rd January 2012. However the
“Start of Spring” (立春) is on the 4thFebruary 2012.

The Heaven Luck for the world events, the effect starts kicking in when the Earth is approaching the Winter Solstice in 21st or 22nd December each year.

2012 is the Ren Chen (Water Dragon 壬辰) year.

壬 (Heavenly Stem) The element is yang Water.
辰(Earthly Branch) The main element is Earth. Hidden elements are Wood and Water.
It is Water on Earth.

According to the cycle of birth and destruction earth is the destroyer of water and so they are on the destructive cycle and have conflict relationship.

壬 is Yang Water. It symbolizes Oceans, Rivers, heavy rain and large body of water.
辰 is Earth. It is dam, mountains, high land, stone, and landscape.
辰 is also called the water storage. It is also known as reservoirs.

In the Yin Yang theory, Yin is slow, passive and Yang is active, fast. 2012 is a Yang year, so things are happening very fast and quick.

2012 is a wet year. We will see more Rain, Snow, icebergs melting and so on.

Year of the Yang water Dragon 2012 has a very similar energy level to the Yang water Rat in 1912, 1972 and 1952 the Yang Water Dragon.

Exactly 100 years ago, 1912 the year of Yang Water Rat, in April, the RMS Titanic sank and took with her more than 1500 people.

In 1972 the Yang water Rat again had similar energy level of 2012, in April and December 1972, there were earthquakes in Nicaragua and in the Iranian province of Fars killed thousands of people.

60 years ago in 1952, the last Yang Water Dragon year, there were flood in England and the West Ice accident in Greenland. 78 seal hunters on 5 Norwegian seal hunting vessels perish without a trace.

If you are aware what is happening in the top North West of Australian Sea, flooding in Philippines recently, as we approaching to Winter Solstice, you can see the Yang Water power is starting to take effect.

The conflict relationship between the Stem and Branch is that the bottom level opposes the upper level. There will be more rebellions from the bottom level. The opposition party will be elected into government in a lot of countries.

The year of the Dragon, the growth is suppressed. Be very careful in January 2012, April 2012, July 2012, October 2012 if you are on the share market. Avoid investment in transportation, aviation, shipping, logistic and so on…

In the first half of the Yang Water Dragon, 4th February to 7th August, the active Water element will drain the METAL. As the result, the gold price will drop. But in the second half of the year, the gold price will be going up.

The Dragon, according to the classical text, it can live in the water, land and in the air. The dragon is more than an amphibian. With such characteristics, it is dynamic, quick and changes.
2012 is a year of changes in Religions, Conceptions, Philosophy, innovations and Values. There will be a lot of news in relation to policies changes, new policies, rules and regulations, laws.

2012 The Earth Luck - Feng Shui

Earth Luck is to deal with the bad energy where we live, work and play. That is the Feng Shui components of our house and office for the year of the Dragon.

Each year, there are three major big Sha (煞氣Bad Energy) flying around. These three Sha have the power to override any flying stars combination regardless how good the natal flying star chart is. These three Sha are called the Grand duke or Tai Sui(太歲), Three-killings (三煞) and Five Yellow (五黃).

1. Tai Sui (Grand Duke). It is located at the South East.
2. San Sha (Three-killings) arrives at the South
3. Five Yellow. It is landed at the South East.

The number one rule to deal with Sha energy is NOT to “Move Earth”, digging the ground or renovating in those areas/sectors inside or outside the house.
A Feng Shui saying stated that: “Avoid big Sha. Cure medium Sha. Neglect tiny Sha.” (大煞宜避, 中煞可制, 小煞不理)


The South East Chen (112.5 – 127.5 辰字位) has Tai Sui

Tai Sui or Grand Duke is the yearly King. The Tai Sui locates at the South East in the year of the Dragon. The Chen belongs to Xun Gwa (巽卦) and it is soft Wood element. It is related to the soft wood system in our body including, hair, the liver, the gall bladder, arms, legs and back, so the health issues related to soft wood element could be hair lose, liver problems (alcoholic problems), gall bladder stone, broken arms and legs if the main door is facing south east. Lady’s age 40 - 59 should pay more attention if living in such facing house.

The best way to minimize bad luck and sickness is not to stir up the yearly bad energy
spots/sector. Yearly bad energy is like a sleeping tiger. It will be fine if the sleeping tiger has not been disturbed. However, if the tiger is wakening up, it will bite you. “Move Earth”, renovation, will wake the tiger up, so DO NOT dig, nailing, chisel and renovate the Tai Sui sector including the floor, ground, garden, and the walls inside and outside.

If your house facing South East or the main door is located at the Tai Sui sector South East, be sure closing the door slowly and gently when coming in or going out, as loud noise (sound waves) can trigger the bad energy too.

To reduce the impact of the Tai Sui, place a round metal objects such as round metal vase near the South East facing door.

The Three Killings is at the South sector (Li Gwa 離卦157.5 – 202.5)

The South sector gets the Three-killings in 2012. It covers a very big area. Three killings represent lawsuits, gossips, arguments. And it is at the middle daughter area (age 21 – 39).

The South sector is Fire element. In health, it is related to the eyes, hearts, and blood pressure.
This means that if a house is facing South or main door located at the south sector, the middle daughter of the house would easily have such problems.

In the world scale Feng Shui, the South sector is Australia and New Zealand. In 2012 the year of the Dragon is not a very stable year for Oz and Kiwi. There will be more water related incidents or earthquakes. There will be a lot more lawsuits or industrial actions in 2012.

Make sure the South sector of the house is clean and tidy. Keep this area as quiet as possible. If the Three-killing bad energy is disturbed, there would be 3 unfortunate incidents.

To minimize bad energy of the Three-killings, place a large pot with 80% full of clear water at south sector. If the water gets dirty or greasy, change the water a soon as possible.

Three-killings is Fire Element which will bring more bushfire to the south region. Fire prevention is important too in 2012.

Don’t place any red objects or moving objects in the south sector including red carpet or red lantern or fish tanks with motor pump.

You cannot change the main door position but you can move yourself away from the bad energy areas.


The Five Yellow also at the South East (112.5 – 157.50)

The Five Yellow, representing misfortune and obstacle arrives at the south east sector in the year of the Dragon too. The South East sector has double Sha Chi. the five yellow together with Tai Sui is the worse combo. This will be affecting (arms, legs, liver, back…) the older daughter (mid-40s) a lot. If your south east sector of the house or office is an important area such as bedroom or entrances, it is recommended that place a motionless round metal object to dissolve this bad energy or move away from this area.

The money annual star number 8 which means prosperity is located in the west sector in 2012 year of the Dragon. As mentioned above, it is related to finance. There are a few ways you can activate the money star.

You can move to and sleep at this area if there is a room. If there is a doorway, use it more often for coming in or going out. Place six coins or some metal object in the area.

In the world scale Feng Shui, West is Europe. Dragon and Rooster combine. It means after entering the Rooster month, 8th September, the European crisis will gradually clear up.
However, in 8th October -7th November 2012, the Dog month, the stock market will drop sharply.

Eat more fruit, vegetables and drink more water will help the digestive system to clear out some unwanted residues from the body. As the result it will make you healthier.

Dragon, Dog, Ox, Goat should also avoid going to the hospitals, funerals. Especially for those who were born in the year of 1961, 1997(Ox), 1946, 1970, 2006 (Dog), 1979(Goat) and 1928, 1988(Dragon).

If female Dragon, Dog, Ox and Goat (age 18 – 45) give birth in the year of Dragon, it will reduce a lot of bad energy and troublesome.

Dragons born in 1976, 1928 and 1988, because the heavenly stem clash with 2012’s heavenly stem. They will be the busiest Dragons in 2012.

Clash means easily confrontation with others due to too stubborn on something (theories, ideals, and systems, religious). Beware of lawsuit and relationship issue.
